While My Business Card Says CEO, I'm Not Big On Titles
There's not a day that goes by that someone doesn't ask me "What does your name mean?" I'm thinking about getting a tee shirt to make it easier for folks. The truth is, there's no great mystery, my father gave me this name because he (and I quote) "Wanted me to be memorable". Ah, ya think!
While I might be the owner of the company, titles don't mean anything. The truth is - I am surrounded by and supported by an incredibly talented group of people. Every aspect of what gets done at YellowWood Group is because each of us is committed and passionate about over-delivering to our clients. I am grateful to serve and lead this team.
I've had the pleasure of working for some pretty cool companies before I started my marketing consulting firm. Like many business professionals, the experiences I garnered helped me fine tune talents and skills. As a marketing strategist, I have the privilege of working with business owners and executives who are committed to doing business differently than their competitors. They think differently and in some cases, making bold choices that clearly set them apart. I enjoy watching the strategic plans that I develop unfold, because once in place, each company transforms them into purpose.

How YellowWood Group Got It's Name
In 2005, one of our partners stepped down from the company to pursue outside interests. As a result, I decided I wanted the company to take a slightly different direction. A road less traveled. After much discussion at the dinner table, my daughter referenced the coincidence between my feelings of being torn between business paths and the Robert Frost poem, The Road Not Taken. She was right, it was so apropos and it made perfect sense. A little spooky if you ask me that she would pull that out of thin air like that. Nevertheless, the next day I officially changed the name of the company and haven't looked back sense.
The legacy of YellowWood Group is to give both my daughter and my son a glimpse into the meaning of choice. I want them to understand that whether they join the traditional workforce or endeavor to be entrepreneurs, it is a choice. Their choice! Children need choices so that they can find their own road . . . even if it does diverge in a yellow wood.
